From dawn to dusk, the ‘temperature’ of this huge market never drops. It is incredibly noisy, busy and a beehive of activities all day long. So if you’d like to get the real feeling of what it’s like to be in Bamako city, this is the place to be. Shopping is fun here and you just can’t have enough of the sights and sounds of this busy market. You can virtually find everything you can think of in the jammed packed stall. The Malian crafts are beautiful and you can even spot some being made right there in front of you. It’s a great place for some photo-ops. However, remember to negotiate well because the vendors like to quote high prices to foreigners. You should also beware of thieves and pick-pockets which could be of any gender. Generally, this is not a market for the faint-hearted. Just remember to have a bottle of water handy and your sense of humour as you wander round the market. It’s an unforgettable experience.
